Personal Experience

Originally from Canal Fulton, Ohio, and now living in Cedarville, Lindsay recently graduated from high school and is working on a degree in business. She loves hiking, biking, walking her dog, and reading, all of which fit right in with this part of the world.  Along with her LCCS instructors and the farm-to-table concept, she particularly appreciates the timeframe of one year versus the usual two-year program, to accomplish a full set of culinary skills to help her feel secure while she ventures anywhere and everywhere in seeking her future.

KILEY NICOLE GRONDIN

Personal Experience

Kiley, who is 27, was born in Sault Ste. Marie, graduated from Escanaba High School at age 16, and waitressed for the last 11 years, most recently on Mackinac Island. She lives in St. Ignace with her husband, Rob, and three children from ages 4 to 9.  She credits Rob and his family for making it possible for her to finally follow her passion for the art of cooking. She loves the LCCS program for all the same reasons expressed by her fellow students. Her goal is to open a unique but affordable catering business to serve areas of Mackinac County, including Mackinac Island.

NATHANIEL GILSON

NATHANIEL GILSON

Personal Experience

Nathaniel is from Cheney and Spokane, Washington, where he worked as a caregiver for developmentally disabled adults and as a line cook.  His girlfriend Kathleen is attending Lake Superior State University, so she probably can be credited with being the drawing card into a new adventure for them both. LCCS was the other drawing card to satisfy his love for cooking. He, too, appreciates the hands-on approach and farm-to-table sustainability. His goal is to become an executive chef.

DYLAN FORMOLO

Personal Experience

Dylan is from Rexton, Michigan, in Mackinac County.  He loves playing the guitar, boxing, and baking sourdough bread. He came to LCCS to learn more about the culinary scene and to obtain a skill set that involves what he is passionate about…baking sourdough bread.  He appreciates the small class-size with its constant hands-on learning and helpful instructors.  He looks forward to working at an Italian restaurant or a bakery…and baking sourdough bread!!!

Personal Experience

A native of Munising, Michigan, Caitlin is fresh out of high school.  A lot of her classes were art related, as she loves art, photography, and writing, but cooking has been at the top of her list since she was quite young.  In her own words, “I want to make an impact in the world through food.”  And what does she like best about LCCS?  “Honestly and wholeheartedly, my instructors.”  She would love to be a personal chef, which would give her time to write a cookbook or two, using her artistic skills for illustration.

TYLER BEAIR

Personal Experience

Tyler must have been born to be a chef! He graduated from Petoskey High School in Petoskey, Michigan, having participated for all four years in its nationally recognized secondary school culinary arts and hospitality program. Thus, he rightfully claims that he has worked in every position in the culinary industry. He chose LCCS for its emphasis on farm-to-table, and its small class size. His current goal is to be a sous chef, but his dream is to have his own restaurant someday.
